Royal Shakespeare Company's Big Amateur Weekend

Become an RSC actor for the Weekend and experience how our performers and directors rehearse and prepare for a production.

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October 2017
Royal Shakespeare Company, The Other Place, Stratford-upon-Avon
Price £220 (does not include accommodation)
Participants must be 18+

The weekend is perfect for those wishing to develop their performance skills and learn more about how our actors prepare, rehearse and perform. The event promises to be an unforgettable theatre experience working in our own rehearsal rooms and on stage.

The four workshops will be led by RSC practitioners and industry professionals and will cover the following areas:


  • Voice and Text (with RSC Voice Practitioner Michael Corbidge)
  • Movement
  • Acting for the stage
  • Stage Combat (with RSC Stage Combat Instructor Tom Jordan). 
As well as the workshops, your ticket also includes:
  • Directing Masterclass
  • Ticket to see Coriolanus in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on Saturday 14               October at 7.15pm 
  • Q and A with actors from the Coriolanus cast
  • Backstage tour of our theatres
  • Ticket to see our permanent exhibition The Play’s The Thing during the weekend
  • Lunch on both days

Cast Wanted for Sense and Sensibility

have had a plea for help from Henley Players who are performing Sense and Sensibility October 18th to 21st. They have had a cast member pull out and are looking for someone to replace her. It is a comic role for a female age 25 to 35 who appears in two scenes only.

Be one of just ten groups from across London to perform at our NODA London showcase!
 
Is your society up for a challenge? Do you want the chance to show the rest of London what you’re made of?
 
On Saturday 3 June 2017 ten groups will get the opportunity to give a 20-minute performance at the Radlett Centre, WD7 8HL http://www.radlettcentre.co.uk
 
The best will be crowned NODA London Showcase Winner at the Awards Day on 4 June.

New Gareth Malone BBC2 Series

We’re looking for creative, dynamic and unique groups and people, from across the U.K., from all walks of life, who are willing (with Gareth’s help) to push their vocal abilities, meet their full potential, and become the best group they can possibly be.

Over the course of the series, groups will be allocated contact time with Gareth, who will offer his own enthusiastic guidance, advice and encouragement.

To round off the series, the groups will showcase what they’ve learned, in front of a panel of musical experts. Impress this panel and you could see your group rewarded with the honorary title of Britain's best amateur choir.

All applications must be received by April 15th 2016 and entrants must be aged 16+ those under 18 must have permission from their parent/guardian to apply.

It’s that time of year again… when we start thinking about NODA Theatre Summer School 2016 as the countdown begins! This year we have made a few changes. We are all so excited about the courses we have on offer for 2016 that we’ve decided to tell you about them a little earlier so that you have a bit more thinking time before you commit to a booking!


Course titles are online as from Wednesday 25th November

Full course descriptions and tutors released online @ 9am on 1st December

BOOKING OPENS @ 9pm on 1st December


With these less anti-social hours, more of you can join in with the excitement of booking straight away!

DID YOU KNOW?????

If you really want to join us in 2016, but are worried about the costs NODA Theatre Summer School offer a number of bursaries which are approximately half the fee!! You can apply for a bursary when you book. It’s simple. Make sure you book your place when applying. You will need to pay the £100 deposit at the time of booking but if you are unsuccessful, and decide not to attend, this will be refunded.

 NODA Patron Connie Fisher wins BAFTA

This year's event took place at St David's Hall in Cardiff and saw celebrities from the world of sport, television and film share the limelight.

NODA Patron Connie Fisher was last night awarded a BAFTA Cymru for producing the film “Jamie Baulch: Looking For My Birth Mum” and all at NODA congratulate her on this fantastic achievement!

Big Amateur Weekend- 21 and 22 November


Join the RSC for a weekend of workshops, masterclasses and backstage insights, tailor made for amateur theatre makers wanting to develop their performance skills and learn more about how RSC actors prepare, rehearse and perform*.


The weekend includes four workshops covering voice and text, movement, acting and stage combat led by RSC practitioners and leading industry professionals (including the RSC’s Michael Corbidge), a masterclass led by an RSC director, a backstage tour, buffet lunches and a ticket to Wendy and Peter,the RSC’s much acclaimed re-telling of the Peter Pan story, in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Join the RSC at the home of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, for an unforgettable theatre experience working in the RSC’s own rehearsal rooms.

Sessions will cover our approach to performing Shakespeare but also a wide range of performance techniques. Suitable for anyone wanting to develop their performing skills for any production - modern or classical. All abilities and levels of experience welcome. Participants must be 18+.
