School Hall To Theatre

23/2/2015

This video gives only a limited sense of the work that the cast and crew of the Town Show need to put in to transform the school hall into a theatre each year. It would be impossible to itemise the long list of things that people set up and create in order to make the show happen but to give an idea ....there is lighting, sound, seating, the orchestra pit, the backstage areas, front of house, the set.... (and probably more I have forgotten). So many hours are put in during show week to create this space and then, within a few hours late on the Saturday night and again on the Sunday morning, it all disappears ready for school on Monday.

One thing that has always struck me about being part of this company is the sense of community. It is not enough to have a cast, crew, chaperones, orchestra, technicians, the various creative teams, front of house... these people are all important parts of any theatre company but the fact that not only do these people do these roles but they also help create a new space to present their work is remarkable.  So much hard work is put in and yet it is done with a smile. Every year people work together and make this happen and every year on a Sunday night I think back on the week and I am proud of everything we accomplished.

Well done everyone!
